connoisseurs. You’ll be within a short stroll of many of the town’s best cafes
and restaurants, including Amelia’s Garden and The Barley Room. There are also
several good wineries in the area, so why not give a try some of New Zealand’s
finest reds?
The best part is that the city
boasts a thriving food and wine scene, largely driven by the region’s temperate
climate. During the warmer months, Picton hosts a number of festivals and
events that celebrate local cuisine and wine.

great base from which to explore the Marlborough Sounds. The area is surrounded
by a myriad of sheltered waterways, deep coves and secluded beaches. There are
plenty of things to do including scenic cruises, winery tours and hiking the
renowned Queen Charlotte track. The sheltered waters of the Marlborough Sounds
are home to an abundance of marine life and boast a wide range of dolphin
species.
During our stay in Picton we
stayed at the Moorings apartment, a very comfortable self-contained unit with
wrap around balcony and garden area, overlooking Picton harbour. It’s a very
peaceful environment and the views of the town are unsurpassed. The
accommodation is situated a 5-10 minute walk down the hill to the marina,
bridge, cafes and restaurants. The apartment is fully equipped with a kitchen,
laundry and BBQ. It also has free parking for two cars. The park is very well
maintained and was a perfect place to stay for our trip to the MarlboroughSounds.
